Standard Email Text for Trace Creation
Here is a sample email to ask a colleague to help with a Cryptosense trial. The links are given for the Java tracer, but can be adapted as needed for other tracers.
Dear colleague,
I’m writing to ask for your help for a software trial I’m running. The software is Cryptosense Analyzer Platform, a tool for discovery and analysis of cryptography use in applications. I’d like to use data from your application as part of the trial.
Cryptosense traces cryptographic calls while the application runs, creating a trace file. That’s the file I need for the trial.
To make the trace you will need to:
Obtain the Cryptosense tracing agent. I will send you this.
Install the Tracer. This involves launching the application with a command-line switch or environment variable set to use the tracing agent. There is a detailed HOWTO that explains everything you need to know to install and use the tracer here: https://docs.cryptosense.com/java-tracer/manual/.
With the Tracer installed, run a test suite with large coverage, such as integration tests, to get a good coverage of all the crypto used by the application. This will generate a Cryptosense Trace File (.cst).
Once you’ve generated the .cst file, please send it to me so that I can upload it to the Cryptosense Analyzer platform. I will share the results with you when I have them.
Overall, this should take an engineer about half a day to complete, allowing time for adapting to the specifics of your application environment.
You can find out more about the tooling at https://cryptosense.com, and further documentation is available at https://docs.cryptosense.com. If you have any questions or issues, you can contact support@cryptosense.com.
Many thanks!
